Friend Committee Annual Report

Friend Committee 2014 Annual Report

The purpose of this committee is to acknowledge the deaths or illnesses of Bar Members and the deaths of their family members, congratulations are also sent to Bar Members regarding the birth or adoption of children. An account is set up through Blitz Florist. Blitz does an excellent job of handling the preparation and delivery of the flower arrangements that are ordered. Kit Kasner does an excellent job of seeing that donations are made to designated charities to acknowledge Bar Members or their family members’ deaths. Kit also handles getting the plaque for the Marilyn Holzman Award. Kit’s contributions are vital and important to the functioning of the Friend Committee. The Friend Committee greatly appreciates all of Kit’s hard work.

Meetings were held monthly except for June, September, November, and December, 2014 due to holidays, vacations, etc. There was good participation by all committee members. The majority of the committee’s work has been to acknowledge deaths of bar members or deaths of bar members’ families, as well as illnesses, surgeries, and births/adoptions. Minutes were done for almost every meeting and copies were provided to Kit Kasner. The 2014 Marilyn Holzman award was presented to Diana Kiesel. Lynn Johnson is willing to continue to be chairperson of this committee. The committee members seem to enjoy being part of the committee and providing this added benefit to the Bar Membership.
