Law Student Membership

Fill out the form below to join TPCBA today!

Law Student Dues

Law Student membership runs on a modified school-year calendar (September through August) and the application is renewable annually. TPCBA dues are waived for Law Students as described as any person who is enrolled in an ABA or Washington State Bar accredited law school as a candidate for a juris doctor degree.

Law Student Benefits

Law students who complete the membership application will be eligible to serve on the TPCBA Young Lawyers Section and attend their monthly meetings. (A Young Lawyer is a lawyer 36 years of age or younger, or who have practiced law for five years or less). The TPCBA-YLS is one of the leading Bar sections involved in community service and volunteer projects. The TPCBA-YLS sponsors a number of social events, which give students and new lawyers a chance to meet and socialize with their friends and colleagues in the Tacoma area. These events include CLEs and occasional informal events at a local pub.  The New & Young Lawyers Section meets the first Tuesday of each month at in person meetings with Zoom option available. Location: Pfau Cochran Vertetis Amala: 909 A Street, Suite 700, Tacoma, WA 98402.

Students will also receive an emailed copy of the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association bi-monthly magazine entitled “The Pierce County Lawyer”, as well as reduced student fees to all of the association’s continuing legal education programs.

As a law student you are part of the legal profession and the TPCBA welcomes your membership. Keeping abreast of important issues that affect your profession is paramount to you, your future practice and serving your clients. The  Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association provides Pierce County lawyers with incomparable educational programs, networking events, and leadership opportunities within the legal community. TPCBA’s diverse members – from lawyers to law students to affiliate members to judges – recognize that membership is an investment in the future of the legal profession in Pierce County.
