  1. High Quality, Low-Cost Continuing Legal Education  –

    With an abundance of local legal talent and a generous history of participation, the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association offers an array of CLE opportunities throughout the year, including the annual Sports Law CLE at the Tacoma Rainier’s stadium where attendees earn CLE credits and then stay for the baseball game, enjoying a barbecue and the fireworks show. The annual fall CLE line-up also includes these showstoppers: Love Stinks, Guardianship, and Tort Law.

  2. Networking and Social Opportunities –

    With over 1300 TPCBA members, there a number of networking and social opportunities throughout the year, including the Lincoln Day Banquet at the Tacoma Convention Center, the annual Bar Convention, The Golf Tournament, and many Happy Hour Socials hosted by the New & Young Lawyers Division.

  3. Courthouse ID card & Attorney Lounge  –

    The courthouse ID card allows for easy entry into the Pierce County Courthouse without having to pass through the metal detectors. At the Pierce County Courthouse, you’ll have access to the attorney’s lounge. The lounge offers fresh coffee and the morning newspaper, a television, a resume book for secretarial and office staff positions, a place to relax and network with other attorneys, and bakery donuts on Friday mornings 2021 Pierce County Courthouse ID Badge Permit Agreement.

  4. Pierce County Lawyer Magazine –

    Receive a bi-monthly magazine which contains important information about changes in local and state rules, announcements of professional meetings and programs, information about upcoming CLEs, practice tips, social and networking events, and many other topics of interest.

  5. Lawyer Referral Program  –

    The TPCBA creates business opportunities for members through our Lawyer Referral Service. Daily the staff receives phone calls from people in our community looking for an attorney; the staff then matches these prospective clients with attorneys practicing in the client’s areas of need. To participate in the LRS members need to apply using the 2021 Lawyer Referral Service Fillable Application with Rules and Procedures.

  6. Sections and Committees  –

    The TPCBA has over 22 unique sections and committees that serve to educate its members on specific substantive areas of the law and they also serve as a forum for legal professionals to discuss common problems and issues. The active and vital New & Young Lawyers Section serves the needs and interests of the newer members of the Bar, including hosting many social, training, and networking opportunities. Membership is free for the first year for our newly admitted lawyers.

  7. Leadership Development  –  

    Your membership offers a variety of leadership opportunities, including chairing or co-chairing a section or committee, or leading one of the organization’s volunteer efforts.

  8. Opportunities to Serve the Community  –

    The TPCBA encourages every member to volunteer their time either in pro bono legal services or general community volunteer opportunities.

  9. Participation in Judicial Evaluations and Qualifications  –

    Committed to the quality of our judiciary, members evaluate our sitting judges, and those who aspire to be judges, by participating in judicial evaluations.
